Station to Station

Visual artist Doug Aitken launched an innovative project that critiques the limiting impact of cultural compartmentalization on creative expression. This experiment aimed to explore a more transient and less material-focused approach to art creation, display, and engagement. Titled Station to Station, the project featured a train journey across North America, serving as a mobile hub for a dynamic and evolving community of artists, musicians, and curators. Together, they collaborated on producing recordings, artworks, films, and orchestrated 10 distinct events throughout the nation.
