Kevin Burke, a promising young executive at a global investment bank, is quickly climbing the ranks in the Rotterdam branch. Recognized for his keen insight and fluency in multiple languages, Kevin earns the promotion he has been striving for—a prestigious position on the company’s internal security team. Under the guidance of the mysterious Mr. Ficks, Kevin is trained to safeguard the firm’s employees in unstable, developing markets. This training provides him with a sense of security, or at least a greater sense of safety than he has felt since the unexplained death of his father. Kevin’s boss, Karl Jorgensen, the bank’s Managing Director, has become a father figure to him, having mentored him over the years. This relationship stirs jealousy in Jorgensen’s biological son, Karl Jorgensen Junior. Despite dismissing this “sibling rivalry,” Jorgensen clearly prefers Kevin, shaping him into a self-assured young man. It is this newfound confidence that emboldens Kevin to propose to the woman he loves.
