Second Avenue
Andra Avenyn was a Swedish drama and soap opera series produced by SVT, airing from 2007 to 2010, with a total of three seasons. The show was the brainchild of Peter Emanuel Falck and Christian Wikander, who were also behind other Swedish soap operas like Varuhuset, Rederiet, and Tre kronor. The theme song for the series was “Friday I’m in Love” by the British rock band The Cure. Filming took place in Gothenburg, with indoor scenes shot at Santos House studio on Lindholmen and outdoor scenes primarily filmed in the Kvillestaden/Brämaregården area on Hisingen. In 2008, Andra Avenyn was nominated for the Kristallen TV Prize in the “Best Swedish TV Series” category but did not win. Additionally, actors Fortesa Hoti and Jonas Bane received nominations for the Aftonbladet TV Prize in 2008, though neither took home the award. SVT decided to end the series after its final episode, which aired on SVT1 on May 5, 2010.
