Have a Little Faith
At 82 years old, Albert Lewis, Mitch Albom’s former rabbi, requests that the well-known Detroit sportswriter deliver his eulogy when the time comes. Albom travels back to his old hometown in New Jersey, where Rabbi Lewis has led a congregation for nearly half a century. Albom feels unqualified for the task, particularly because he no longer practices Judaism and has married a Christian, who also seems to be non-practicing. Despite this, Rabbi Lewis insists that Albom is the right person for the role. Over the following eight years, Albom makes multiple trips back home and even participates in some Sabbath services, witnessing the dedicated rabbi’s efforts to continue inspiring his community despite his declining health.
