Elcano & Magellan: The First Voyage Around the World

The inaugural global expedition was initiated by Ferdinand Magellan and completed by Juan Sebastián Elcano. On September 20, 1519, a fleet of five ships set sail from Seville. They faced numerous challenges, including storms, starvation, and encounters with indigenous tribes. After three arduous years, just one vessel returned. This remarkable journey ultimately confirmed the Earth’s spherical nature.
